Construction Staking and Layout

With the economic climate being the way it is construction staking and layout for schools, libraries, and government buildings has taken the front seat in the way of work load at POINT TO POINT LAND SURVEYORS, INC. Although the tasks can be tedious and very demanding construction staking is one of the key components of the Land Surveying Profession. Unfortunately construction staking doesn't fall under the guide lines of the Georgia Professional Land Surveyors Board. A contractor who decides to use an unlicensed layout person (I will not call them a Surveyor) takes a risk of not getting the service and accuracy they need. Since a lot of work now if municipal based it would be a great idea for the Board to right its ways and require any person doing construction staking and layout to be under the responsible charge of a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor. Just my thoughts but I am sure others would agree, especially those who have been burned by non-professionals.
